Session Summary

There’s no reason simulation-based learning has to—or should—end after nursing school. As patient acuity continues to rise, nurses face increasingly complex challenges, yet opportunities to strengthen critical thinking, clinical judgment and communication are limited. This session highlights how a transition from critical care to flight nursing is the inspiration for a specialized, high-fidelity simulation program, and provides practical and logistical strategies to design and implement an empowering, skill-enhancing simulation experience in your own institution.

Objectives

  • Identify and explain the fundamental concepts of high-quality simulation-based education and their roles in learner development.
  • Apply evidence-based debriefing techniques and analyze the impact of individualized feedback on learner engagement and performance.
  • Develop a framework for implementation and continuous success of a simulation-based education program within an institutional context.
