Session Summary

This session explores key respiratory disorders—COPD, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, and COVID-19—focusing on pathophysiology, clinical trends, and treatment strategies. Advances in respiratory support, including high-flow nasal cannulas, noninvasive ventilation, and mechanical ventilation are discussed. Additional topics include arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis and the use of prone positioning in ARDS. Attendees gain insight into optimizing care for patients with complex pulmonary conditions.

Objectives

  • Identify key features of COPD, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis and COVID-19.
  • Discuss benefits of high-flow oxygen, NIV and ventilators in respiratory care.
  • Explain ABG use and prone positioning in managing ARDS.
