Session Summary

The American Heart Association (AHA) and American College of Cardiology (ACC) recommend coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) as a noninvasive test for patients with acute or stable chest pain, especially those at intermediate risk. CCTA holds a Class 1, Level A recommendation for excluding atherosclerotic plaque and obstructive coronary artery disease. This session highlights CCTA’s advantages in visualizing coronary anatomy, analyzing plaque and comparing its effectiveness to other noninvasive tests.

Objectives

  • Analyze the CCTA roadmap of the coronary arteries to diagnose coronary lesions’ location and severity.
  • Discuss the benefits of CCTA over other noninvasive cardiac testing.
  • Evaluate case studies where CCTA is utilized and shows benefit.
