Session Summary

This session bridges the gap between nephrology and critical care, offering practical, evidence-based strategies for managing acute kidney injury, renal replacement therapy and fluid/electrolyte disorders in critically ill patients. Designed for nurses and advanced practice providers, the content is case-based and clinically focused to support immediate application at the bedside.

Objectives

  • Differentiate key causes and stages of acute kidney injury in critically ill patients using KDIGO criteria.
  • Evaluate indications for renal-replacement therapy and compare modalities (IHD, CRRT, PD).
  • Apply evidence-based strategies for fluid management, electrolyte repletion and nephrotoxin avoidance in the ICU.
