Session Summary

This session provides nurses with foundational and advanced knowledge related to the management of pacemakers. Through an interactive and practical approach, this session reviews types of pacemakers (single, dual, biventricular), pacing goals, device components and best practices. Emphasis is placed on interpreting pacer modes and settings, troubleshooting failure to sense or capture, managing asynchronous pacing and ensuring patient safety during perioperative care. Considerations specific to both intensive care and progressive care units are integrated, with a focus on real-world application across diverse monitoring environments. A case-based rhythm strip activity reinforces the application of key concepts and enhances clinical decision-making.
