Session Summary

The spectrum of temperature-related illnesses is wide and encompasses problems from mild to life-threatening. This session focuses on several patients with severe and complex temperature emergencies requiring fast action, knowledge of effective treatment and skill. Case studies with patient data and outcomes are presented, along with current evidence-based management strategies. Come learn about heat emergencies and hypothermia and better prepare yourself to care for these patients in the future. Your knowledge is applied during the session using interactive audience polling.

  • Identify and define heat and hypothermia emergencies on their respective spectrums.
  • Recognize effective treatments for both heat and hypothermia emergencies.
  • Discuss ineffective or inefficient treatments for temperature emergencies.
