Session Summary

Uncertainty over the steps involved should not dissuade your chapter from organizing a seminar, conference or other event. The fear of the unknown can become a barrier when it does not have to be. Timeframes, costs and logistics, from the beginning of planning to the very end, as well as evaluation of the seminar, are discussed. By offering a realistic approach to implementing a successful event, chapters gain the confidence to accomplish such a goal and start planning very soon.

Objectives

  • Discuss the major steps and components needed in planning an event, including knowing your resources, as well as your target audience.
  • List steps for marketing, advertising and communication of date, time and location of a successful seminar / event, including timeliness.
  • Define the importance of seminar execution, including an evaluation to acknowledge successes and to identify future challenges.
