Session Summary

In gardening, you must periodically check your soil and replenish needed vitamins so your plants stay healthy. The same is true in our work environments. We don’t just drift into health. We teach attendees how to check the proverbial soil in their workplace and identify the Healthy Work Environment (HWE) Standards. We also introduce some tools and exercises to help you proactively incorporate elements of the standards in all the work you do in your unit—no matter your position (bedside, management, leadership, research, etc). We all play a role in keeping our environments healthy.

Objectives

  • List the six Healthy Work Environment (HWE) Standards.
  • Identify where the six HWE standards exist in your workplace.
  • Create an action plan for a project that includes a step for evaluating whether all the HWE standards are represented.
