Session Summary

Professional growth for bedside nurses often follows a familiar trajectory: starting the role, building confidence and expertise, becoming a preceptor or mentor, joining committees, advancing on the clinical ladder, taking on charge nurse responsibilities, and mastering specialized skills within the unit. But what happens beyond that? What if the traditional pathway doesn’t ignite your passion—or your interests fall outside the usual opportunities?

Objectives

  • Identify opportunities for growth beyond traditional bedside career pathways.
  • Generate innovative ideas for roles and responsibilities that enhance professional practice among critical care nurses.
