Repeated Session

Session Summary

Critical care transport nursing requires a fundamentally different mindset than bedside ICU nursing, despite shared clinical foundations. Nurses transitioning from the ICU to ground or flight transport often find the dynamic, uncontrolled environment challenging, even with strong critical care experience. This session explores how priorities, decision-making, and risk management shift outside the hospital, helping participants bridge the gap between hospital-based care and the transport setting.

Objectives

  • Describe key cognitive and operational differences between in-patient ICU nursing and critical care transport nursing.
  • Identify strategies for adapting ICU clinical skills to dynamic, resource-limited transport environments.
