Session Summary

Airway management in pediatric transport occurs under conditions that systematically elevate cognitive load: confined space, vibration, noise, time compression, and equipment variability. Airway Academy integrates human factors science using SEIPS 2.0 principles, cognitive aids, deliberate practice, and simulation to address the gap between work as imagined and work as done, reframing competency as sociotechnical adaptation within system constraints.

Objectives

  • Analyze how SEIPS 2.0 - informed task analysis identifies system-level constraints in transport airway management.
  • Differentiate between conventional airway education approaches and the Airway Academy's human factors-integrated model.
