Session Summary
A VICU-supported, multi-faceted intervention was implemented to improve SDU patient safety. SDU and VICU leadership collaborated to implement hourly VICU fall risk rounds, q2h repositioning, nutrition consults for Braden <18, and VICU scribe skin assessment support. Comparing Q1-Q2 2024 (pre) vs. 2025 (post) showed a 55% decrease in nosocomial pressure injuries and zero falls (Feb-Sep 2025, 5,153 encounters). This improved SDU safety, supporting team-based, protocol-driven harm reduction.
