Session Summary

There are an estimated 1.4 million patients who survive sepsis each year in the United States. Survivors often face many physical, mental, and emotional challenges following their initial hospitalization. Learn firsthand from a sepsis survivor and bilateral below-knee amputee as she discusses her ICU stay, recovery and life after sepsis. Unique insights into the patient’s experience and strategies will be shared to better interact with patients and their family to improve survivorship.

  • Summarize patient and family education tools and resources to use in acute care and recovery.
