Session Summary

Prerequisite: APRNs who perform these skills in their daily practice. The purpose of this session is to provide APRNs with the unique opportunity to review anatomy and practice various critical care skills. APRN participants enhance their understanding of various procedures and associated risks and benefits through an in-depth, hands-on cadaver practicum. A comprehensive review of the anatomy includes airway, chest cavity, vascular and intraosseous access landmarks and exploration. Participants work in various body areas with API-based instructors to broaden their knowledge of airway management with videoscopy, central line placement, chest tube placement and intraosseous placement. Suturing techniques are reviewed with central line and chest tube placement.
