Session Summary

This immersive pre-conference equips clinicians to care for patients on IABP, Impella, ECMO and other cardiac support devices. Attendees explore device functions and evidence-based management strategies and gain confidence through hands-on simulation. This session is essential for nurses in cardiac ICUs, Progressive Care Unit, CV recovery units and rapid response roles.

Objectives

  • Identify key indications, mechanisms, and clinical considerations for Impella, IABP, and VA-ECMO.
  • Apply best practices for bedside management, troubleshooting, and complication recognition across cardiac devices.
  • Perform simulated assessments and emergent interventions using IABP, ECMO, and Impella equipment.
