Session Summary

Having an obstetric patient roll through the critical care unit doors frequently strikes fear into the heart and soul of critical care nurses. This session unravels the mysteries of differential diagnosis and care management for obstetric patients experiencing acute neurologic events and cardiovascular / pulmonary collapse. Case studies highlight key concepts. Nurses leave ready to purposely provide optimal care to these challenging patients.

Objectives

  • Discuss differential diagnosis and care management of the pregnant patient experiencing an acute neurologic event.
  • Explain care management of the pregnant patient requiring cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
