About Carol

Carol Ann Rauen of St. Augustine Florida is an independent clinical nurse specialist (CNS) and education consultant with 39 years of experience in acute and critical care nursing. Rauen also works clinically as a staff nurse in the surgical ICU at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine. Her nursing career includes serving as a CNS and nurse manager at Georgetown University Medical Center and assistant professor of Georgetown’s School of Nursing and Health Studies. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science from the University of Maryland. Rauen is the founding editor of the “Certification Test Prep” column in Critical Care Nurse. An award-winning national speaker, educator and author, Rauen presents review courses for CCRN and PCCN certification, as well as for medical-surgical, emergency and gerontological nursing certification, across the country.
