About Myra

In over 35 years as a critical care nurse, Myra has worked as a staff nurse, charge nurse, clinical educator, nurse clinician, and research nurse. Her practice focus for the last 25 years has been the care of cardiac surgery patients. She currently works as a Clinical Nurse IV in the 32 bed CTICU at Duke University Hospital. In addition to patient care responsibilities, she leads the Clinical Research Team, and teaches classes on Cardiac Surgery Nursing Essentials, CALS, VADs, and ECMO. She is the author of the AACN Cardiac Surgery Subspecialty Certification Review Course and also has multiple publications in the nursing literature including book chapters and journal articles on cardiac surgical nursing topics. Myra’s national volunteer work with AACN includes the CMC/CSC Practice Analysis Task Force, Evidence Based Practice Resource Work Group, CCRN/CCRN-E Exam Development, and the 2016-2017 Nominating Committee for AACN. She is a 2016 Circle of Excellence recipient.
