About Janet

I am a Clinical Nurse Specialist with a focus in cardiology and a concentration in heart failure for the past 17 years. Prior experience has been in cardio-thoracic, medical-surgical, and chronic critical care units. I have been clinical faculty for undergraduate and graduate students. I teach patients and families individually and in groups on self-management using motivational interviewing techniques. I am a co-founder of an Acute Care Patient and Family Advisory Council, the first in the country. I lead an ICU Survivor Support group initiative. My research is about Caregivers of patients with Left Ventricular Assist Devices. I am a sustaining member of AACN and have served as past President and Board member of the Lake Erie Chapter.
