About Nicholas

Nicholas McGowan is a Critical Care nurse with 10 years of experience in Cardiovascular and Surgical Intensive Care, and Neuro trauma. His background in education, leadership, and public speaking influences his teaching style and engaging delivery of knowledge. Nicholas is fueled by his passion for a modern approach to the adult learning theory and merging technology with evidence-based practice. He considers himself a lifelong learner eager to build upon his foundation of critical care nursing and apply new knowledge directly at the bedside where he currently still practices. His hunger for knowledge and motivation to translate it to practice has contributed to his success as a leader in his field. He has served as President of the AACN Inland Empire Chapter leading over 500 members and organizing multiple events, symposiums, and collaboratives among several hospitals in the southern California region. He also helped to pilot the Rapid Response program for one of the largest healthcare organizations in the nation and consults with other regional healthcare organizations in providing critical care education, CCRN review courses, and Rapid Response programs. Nicholas enjoys running and competing in Spartan races and is currently training for his first Ironman Triathlon. He is also devoted father of 2 young boys and when he’s not teaching nursing courses or caring for critically-ill patients, he is busy coaching little league baseball or fighting off pirate-ninjas hiding in the closet.
