Activity Summary

Required reading for all learners: Implicit Bias impacts patient outcomes

This study aimed to evaluate staff perceptions of ventilator liberation practices, examine factors affecting timely extubation, and identify opportunities for process improvements in patient care. By evaluating the views of staff, we can tailor educational content to their unique needs. Strengthening correct knowledge and addressing misconceptions about ventilator liberation could enhance understanding of and adherence to protocols. Our findings highlight specific areas that require more attention to improve patient outcomes.

Objectives

  • Identify key factors contributing to delays in ventilator liberation.
  • Describe the variation in staff perceptions across occupational groups regarding comfort, roles, and timing of ventilator liberation.
  • Discuss strategies to enhance adherence to ventilator liberation protocols.
