The objectives of this integrative review were to examine the scientific evidence regarding critical and emergency care nurses’ attitudes, perceptions, and behaviors regarding family presence during resuscitation (FPDR) and to identify factors that influence its practice. Identifying modifiable factors contributes to the development of interventions that consider nurses’ perspectives and concerns, ultimately enhancing FPDR implementation in critical and emergency care settings.

Objectives

  • Describe the perceived benefits of FPDR practice in critical care and emergency settings.
  • Identify factors may hinder practicing FPDR in critical care and emergency settings.
  • Discuss possible strategies to enhance FPDR practice in critical care and emergency settings.
