The Cardiothoracic ICU and Step Down Unit implemented new processes for preoperative operative open-heart surgery patients including education, early identification of skin integrity risk, and a new guideline for offloading patients postoperatively. This resulted in a decrease of HAPI 15% with an estimated annual fiscal impact of $323,277.
