Activity Summary
The use of point of care lactate testing improved the timely recognition and treatment of severe sepsis in a large Level II tertiary emergency department triage area leading to improved outcomes and bundle compliance. This project resulted in a reduction in ED length of stay and a return on investment of 1032%.
Objectives
- Describe early recognition of severe sepsis to meet the sepsis bundle.
- Identify how to reduce length of time in from presentation to recognition of severe sepsis.
