Activity Summary

This session takes you on a journey of assessment, planning, implementation and re-assessment for creating a blended-learning progressive and critical care orientation. Creating a blended-learning experience can be difficult due to the abbreviated time frame available to orient novice progressive and critical care nurses. Novice nurses are also overwhelmed by the amount of information they need to master. AACN has developed a comprehensive online education product recommended to be combined with other learning modalities. This session illustrates the incorporation of e-learning with hands-on skills workshops, interactive concept review activities and simulations to create successful blended-learning experiences.

Objectives

  • Analyze facilitation methods to address the various learning styles.
  • Explain specific critical thinking skills developed through experiential learning.
  • Describe the components of blended-learning for nurses who are new to progressive and critical care.
