Activity Summary

Critical care nurses are uniquely positioned to drive innovation in healthcare. This session is designed to help participants see their fundamentally important role in creating the pragmatic and sustainable innovation required for real progress in practice, service and improved clinical outcomes. Using the design thinking process, participants learn about the development of an actual product created and commercialized during COVID-19 by a critical care nurse.

  • Empower nurses to recognize their healthcare innovation potential.
  • Identify the essential steps used in the design thinking process for healthcare innovations and solutions.
  • Discuss the steps in product development from idea to commercialization.
