Activity Summary

This session reviews how you can take your advanced nursing skills outside of the hospital setting. Medical device and pharmaceutical companies are looking to employ nurses in sales and education. Medical device companies are also looking for nurses to help review products during development to ensure patient safety. You could review medical records for malpractice cases for attorneys. This presentation also reviews the financial and legal aspects of starting your own business.

Objectives

  • Identify nursing opportunities for work outside of the traditional hospital setting.
  • Understand the financial risks of becoming self employed.
  • Appreciate how to use nursing skills when working for medical industry companies.
