Whatever your personal opinion on body modifications, the practice of deliberately altering one’s appearance is as old as time (figuratively speaking). Body modification can include piercings, tattoos, scarification, implants and alterations to the ear and tongue. This intermediate session includes a discussion about the most common types and locations of body modifications and practical nursing implications for care including assessment, removal and complications that may arise.
