Activity Summary

Required reading for all learners: Implicit Bias impacts patient outcomes

The AACN Standards for Establishing and Sustaining Healthy Work Environments (2016) do not prescribe that one of the six standards should be implemented before another standard. However, maintaining a healthy work environment (HWE) without authentic leadership is nearly impossible. This session describes foundational leadership strategies outlined by the time, empowerment, enthusiasm, appreciation, management and support (TEEAMS) framework and HWE standards.

Objectives

  • Discuss what authentic leadership looks like when successfully translating the vision of a healthy work environment.
  • Identify at least two practical strategies that promote a healthy work environment.
  • Apply the leadership by design TEEAMS framework.
