Required reading for all learners: Implicit Bias impacts patient outcomes

Malnutrition is associated with a myriad of complications in hospitalized patients. Knowledge of evidence-based practices to facilitate delivery of nutritional therapies is imperative for all nurses. Nutritional therapies are especially important for patients with COVID-19, placed in prone positioning and on vasopressors. This session examines the evidence and guidelines for enteral feeding management and care of patients receiving enteral nutrition and is essential for nurses caring for patients in the acute care setting.

Objectives

Relate incidence and risks associated with malnutrition.
Apply nutritional support guidelines and pertinent evidence into practice, including complex situations.
Identify evidence-based strategies for assessment of patients, initiating enteral feedings and maintenance of enteral access device.
