Required reading for all learners: Implicit Bias impacts patient outcomes

Axis determination, bundle branch blocks (BBB) and heart blocks can be intimidating to nurses. This session is presented in a creative way to make identifying axis deviation and blocks fun and easy to understand. Videos are utilized to enhance learning of the conduction system and blocks. Participants learn the causes and clinical application of axis deviation, bundle branch blocks and heart blocks. Case studies are utilized to help apply the acquired knowledge.

Objectives

  • Discuss the causes and significance of axis deviation.
  • Identify the criteria for left and right BBB, left anterior and posterior hemiblocks and second- and third-degree heart blocks.
  • Analyze EKGs for axis deviation and heart blocks.
