Required reading for all learners: Implicit Bias impacts patient outcomes

The ABDEF bundle is an established ICU standard of care. Early mobility is one factor of this bundle. This session focuses on facilitation of early mobilization of ICU patients. Utilization of established guidelines, innovative therapies (verticalization, gaming, ergonomic bed bike), interdisciplinary mobility rounding and individualized mobility plans are discussed in the context of mobilizing patients attached to ventilators, continuous renal replacement and mechanical assist devices.

Objectives

  • Describe the use of a multidisciplinary rounding team to assess patient mobility.
  • Explore mobility tactics that can be used for complex patients.
  • Identify secondary benefits of mobility.
