Retention is a common challenge for nursing teams, and evidence-based strategies to overcome it are often difficult to implement and sustain. Join this foundational session to learn mechanisms and strategies to implement in your departments to enhance hiring, development and retention practices. This is an opportunity for frontline nurses and nursing leaders to learn creative solutions to onboard, engage and retain nurses while improving quality of care and staff satisfaction.

  • Describe ways to evaluate onboarding practices and local retention efforts.
  • Identify key components of the AACN Healthy Work Environment framework to improve staff development and retention.
  • Summarize strategies to implement and sustain onboarding best practices and principles of the AACN Healthy Work Environment framework.
