Activity Summary

Required reading for all learners: Implicit Bias impacts patient outcomes

Evidence-based decision-making is a vital nursing accountability. We use data and evidence every day in our practice; it’s second nature. This advanced-level session pulls together the most important aspects of evidence-based decision-making, including a discussion of the right pathway to take to answer clinical questions. The participant realizes how inquiry to innovation exists in our clinical world and how implementing change based on evidence improves patient, nurse, and unit outcomes.

Objectives

  • Describe how the nurse’s role in utilizing evidence to inform practice integrates with an Inquiry to Innovation program approach.
  • Discuss our role as evidence-based practice clinicians in leading to positive change and improved outcomes.
  • Analyze how innovation intersects with evidence-based decisions and improvement.
