Required reading for all learners: Implicit Bias impacts patient outcomes

Central nervous system trauma, as well as trauma to other body systems, may negatively impact cerebral hemodynamics. This intermediate-level presentation includes a discussion of the pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic work-up and management of trauma-induced stroke. Case studies are included.

Objectives

  • Describe the generalized impact of multisystem trauma on the central nervous system.
  • Discuss the etiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic work-up, and management of stroke related to craniocerebral trauma.
  • Summarize best practices in the management of trauma to minimize the risk of stroke.
