Required reading for all learners: Implicit Bias impacts patient outcomes

By attending this advanced session, you learn from a human trafficking survivor who is now a forensic nurse and private investigator, the elements that define human trafficking and the various ways to build rapport with survivors who present as patients. Attendees learn key words that are used in the life of trafficking to discern when they are used while taking the medical history and recognize the key red flags and indicators for how they manifest in the clinical setting. Understanding the importance of trauma-informed practices and protocol when working with victims of human trafficking is key and is discussed. You will be able to utilize the key resources and protocols for the “what’s next after identification,” and learn how to report suspected human trafficking while maintaining HIPAA Privacy Protocols and the proper implementation of mandated reporting.
