Activity Summary

Required reading for all learners: Implicit Bias impacts patient outcomes

Diversity, as it relates to the workplace, is a term that refers to the variety of different perspectives represented on a team. The term represents a broad range of experiences, including gender, sex, socioeconomic background, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, generational membership and life experience. This foundational panel discussion utilizes the Healthy Work Environment Standards to develop a collaborative approach toward cultural humility and allyship.

Objectives

  • Describe how AACN's Healthy Work Environment Standards relate to a diverse and equitable workforce.
  • Examine how differences in age, race, gender, sexual orientation and religion can be used to amplify the strengths of a team.
  • Discover an allyship approach that challenges implicit bias.
