Activity Summary

Required reading for all learners: Implicit Bias impacts patient outcomes

Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) carries significant morbidity and mortality. New guidelines published by the American Heart/Stroke Association and the Neurocritical Care Society in 2023 include several recommendation changes. This session provides an intermediate-level review of key updates. Using a case-based approach, it highlights the evolution of the management of cerebral vasospasm, blood pressure and other critical care complications associated with aSAH.

Objectives

  • Identify significant changes in guideline recommendations for the management of aSAH.
  • Review the evolving understanding and appropriate management of delayed cerebral ischemia versus vasospasm as a complication of aSAH.
  • Apply the appropriate application of the aSAH guideline recommendations.
