This session critically reviews available evidence and proven best practices in the leadership of APRNs in the critical care setting. Topics include general orientation content, critical care competencies, mentorship and support and team-building activities to improve retention and APRN engagement in the clinical setting.

Objectives

Describe best practices in new APRN onboarding, support and mentorship in the critical care setting.
Interpret the available evidence on staffing ratios and productivity assessment in critical care and apply this to their practice setting.
List and describe the key components of a successful APRN orientation program.
