Activity Summary

Required reading for all learners: Implicit Bias impacts patient outcomes

This intermediate- to advanced-level session unravels the mystery of patients who present with signs and symptoms of acute coronary syndrome yet are found to have normal coronary angiograms and/or coronary computed tomography angiography. Many of these patients do not have normal coronary arteries and suffer from continued symptoms, reduced quality of life and, potentially, experience a myocardial infarction. Learn who this is most likely to affect and how to care for them.

Objectives

  • Distinguish the pathophysiology of obstructive coronary artery disease and ischemic nonobstructive coronary artery disease.
  • Discuss the diagnostic characteristics of ischemic nonobstructive coronary artery disease.
  • Explain the management of obstructive coronary artery disease and ischemic nonobstructive coronary artery disease.
