Activity Summary

Required reading for all learners: Implicit Bias impacts patient outcomes

More than 15,000 pediatric in-hospital cardiac arrests (IHCA) occur annually in the United States, and morbidity and mortality remain high. Using a case study approach, this interactive session explores the critical components necessary for high-quality pediatric resuscitation and postresuscitation care. Building on foundational concepts, attendees have an advanced understanding of how individuals, teams and organizations can move the needle in improving outcomes from pediatric IHCAs.

Objectives

  • Examine current incidence and outcomes from pediatric in-hospital cardiac arrest, including differences in outcomes based on setting.
  • Describe the latest evidence for optimizing the quality of pediatric in-hospital resuscitation responses.
  • Explain the key interventions for postresuscitation care which are essential in optimizing survival outcomes.
