Activity Summary

Required reading for all learners: Implicit Bias impacts patient outcomes

This intermediate-level interactive session provides vital information on cardiac imaging studies. Tests discussed include stress echocardiogram, stress myocardial perfusion imaging, positron emission tomography (PET) myocardial perfusion stress test and dobutamine stress tests. Imaging studies discussed include transthoracic echocardiogram, cardiac computed tomography (CT) angiogram, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) angiogram and coronary artery calcium scoring.

Objectives

  • Identify the indications and principles behind the following stress tests: Stress Echocardiogram, SPECT Myocardial Perfusion Imaging Stress Tests (Treadmill and Chemical), and Positron Emission Tomography (PET).
  • Explain the indications and principles for the following imaging studies: Computed Tomography Angiogram (CTA), Computed Tomography (CT) Calcium Score Test and a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Test.
  • Describe the indications, patient preparation and procedural steps involved in performing a transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) and an Echocardiogram Bubble Study.
