Required reading for all learners: Implicit Bias impacts patient outcomes

The term cardiomyopathy may be confusing. Each type of cardiomyopathy impacts myocardial performance differently, requiring specific treatment strategies to impact outcomes. This session guides the learner to a new understanding of the differences between dilated, restrictive, hypertrophic, arrhythmogenic and Takotsubo cardiomyopathies as well as up-to-date knowledge regarding new treatment options for patients with amyloidosis and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Objectives

  • Identify the pathophysiologic differences between dilated, restrictive, hypertrophic, arrhythmogenic and Takotsubo cardiomyopathies.
  • Differentiate clinical presentations associated with dilated, restrictive, hypertrophic, arrhythmogenic and Takotsubo cardiomyopathies.
  • Discuss treatment options for the patient with dilated, restrictive, , hypertrophic, arrhythmogenic and Takotsubo cardiomyopathies.
