Malnutrition is associated with myriad complications in hospitalized patients. It is imperative for all nurses to advocate for and provide evidence-based delivery of nutrition including appropriate indications for holding feedings and recognition of refeeding syndrome. Emerging evidence on the gastrointestinal microbiome and effects of early feeding is essential to understand. This session examines the foundational evidence and guidelines for management and care of patients receiving enteral nutrition and is essential for nurses caring for patients in the acute care setting.Learners must complete the entire activity and the associated evaluation AND read Implicit Bias impacts patient outcomes. No partial credit will be awarded.
