Required reading for all learners: Implicit Bias impacts patient outcomes

This session describes the role of an RN-led behavioral response team. We share how we utilize standard work to provide enhanced rounding, education to implement a structured response for patients experiencing behavioral crisis and provide ongoing consistent strategies for care delivery. The result is an increase in care planning, improved interprofessional team collaboration and establishment of standardized, objective reporting measures.

Objectives

  • Identify the fundamental components of an interprofessional behavioral response team.
  • Articulate the implementation of standard work to support staff safety and collect objective data.
  • Describe methods and metrics to evaluate the impact the behavioral response team has on patient outcomes and workplace safety.
