Required reading for all learners: Implicit Bias impacts patient outcomes

Frontline nurses from two critical care units in the same healthcare system implemented and sustained a healthy work environment (HWE). This session provides an overview of the Healthy Work Environment Assessment Tool (HWEAT) utilization, strategies to improve skilled communication and promote meaningful recognition. These foundational strategies will equip the participants to implement change in order to promote HWE in their units.

Objectives

  • Demonstrate the process utilized by frontline nurses to initiate and sustain change to promote a healthy work environment.
  • Apply change management principles utilized to anchor a healthy work environment in two critical care units.
  • Develop a plan to evaluate, implement and sustain healthy work environment standards.
