Activity Summary

Nurses must know the early signs of cardiogenic shock, what resources are available at their facility and when to consider escalation to a higher level of care. This session reviews the current literature on cardiogenic shock management, describes a model for a coordinated, tiered system for shock care and discusses the key role critical care nurses play in escalating care along standardized management algorithms to get the right patients to the right place for the right level of care.
