Activity Summary

This session is designed to educate both experienced and novice nurses on the evolving technology of rhythm management devices. As technology continues to change, so does the way we use it to optimize patient outcomes when it comes to managing rhythms. This session covers the fundamentals of rhythm management, such as pacer settings and modes, as well as going a step further to identify how pacers, automatic implantable cardioverter defibrillators, cardiac resynchronization therapy and leadless pacers are being used to help patients.

  • Identify four different rhythm management devices.
  • Explain how knowledge of rhythm management devices pertains to patient care.
  • Describe how each rhythm management device optimizes cardiac function.
