You may have wondered what happens when guideline-directed medical therapy is no longer a sustainable option for a patient in heart failure, what options are available to this very ill population, and how nurses can advocate for and aid in this treatment. This session discusses the intricacies in advanced heart failure management and the interdisciplinary approach in designing their care plan. We discover whether heart transplantation or a left ventricular assist device are viable options, what goes into deciding the path and how nurses can advocate for patients and aid in this treatment.
