Activity Summary

This session guides participants through the role of a nurse on an RN-led behavioral response team. The team structure is a multifaceted approach that includes enhanced rounding, structured response for patients experiencing behavioral crisis and consistent strategies for care delivery. We share the daily workflows and case-study based examples to narrate how we constructed standard work and objective reporting metrics. The behavioral response nurse is the driver for improved care planning, enhanced interprofessional team collaboration and overall role satisfaction.

  • Identify the fundamental components of nursing responsibilities in an interprofessional behavioral response team.
  • Explain the implementation of standard work to support staff safety and collect objective data.
  • Describe methods and metrics to evaluate the impact the behavioral response team has on patient outcomes and workplace safety.
